After 7 played minutes river plate FC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Columbo. If Gavino Ermengol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. After a defensive mix-up in river plate FC's zone, Leandro Peli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cornelio Hondo came out of the goal and Leandro Peli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 20th minute Ignacio Gorosti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornelio Hondo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 22 minutes, Ignacio Gorosti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmas F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Ignacio Gorosti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Damian Intxixu was extremely unlucky when he, in the 26th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The crowd rose to their feet as Damian Intxixu kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Vicente Donzel. That made the score 1-0 in the 29 minute of play. Palmas F.C.'s Vicente Donzel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Palmas F.C. from getting a goal against them. Ignacio Gorosti recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 43rd minute, Santiago Nabar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Damian Intxixu made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Damian Intxixu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Donzel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vicente Donzel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Damian Intxixu, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 59 minutes into the match, Federico Salomone sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Cornelio Hondo threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Federico Salomone this time. Eriberto Ikatz was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 76th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Vicente Donzel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damian Intxixu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 92nd minute, Damian Intxixu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The river plate FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Palmas F.C.'s players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
