During the 15th minute of the match Julian Nofre completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Julian Nofre a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. 20 minutes into the match, Chuchucaruana's goal looked a bit too open when Feliberto Lidon came free, but Jeronimo Rutenio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gustavo Jordy struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Abelardo Avellaneda didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chuchucaruana. In the 32nd minute, Amadeo Luken hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gimnasia y Esgrima LP's Feliberto Lidon got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gustavo Jordy struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Abelardo Avellaneda didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chuchucaruana. In the 43rd minute, Reynaldo Huly hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dionisio Beat was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 44th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The supporters of Gimnasia y Esgrima LP booed when Chuchucaruana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Mano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dionisio Beat took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 53rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jeronimo Rutenio. Chuchucaruana's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Feliberto Lidon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gustavo Jordy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Abelardo Avellaneda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jeronimo Rutenio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ermegildo Ordono in the 71st minute. Abelardo Avellaneda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeo Luken in the 75th minute of the match. Abelardo Avellaneda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustavo Jordy, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute.
