In the 18th match minute, Racing Club de Caseros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elpidio Sasoin to maneuver through the defense. Serafino Ciano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulo Espiridion read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. The referee ignored Guayamba FC's protests and gave Santiago Oliverio a yellow card for diving instead. 85 minutes had been played when some careless play by Guayamba FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Rafael Ovando was slow to take the kick. During this time Racing Club de Caseros's players had a chance to rest. Anselmo Escobar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Guayamba FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Guayamba FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
