Spectators: 7190 (Terracing: 5394, Seating: 1653, VIP seats: 143) In the 5th minute, Christian Ixaka got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 9 minutes into the match, Instituto Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Itzaina came free, but Cristobal Gaufred reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arsenio Cordarrol received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Cristobal Gaufred tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The attack was good, but when Emanuel Itzaina in the 13th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. River Plate's Aldo Rik played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Ixaka in the 17th minute of play. When Instituto Plate's Angelino Loramendi in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye River Plate's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Instituto Plate booed when River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lázaro Gustau didn't get a good kick on the ball. River Plate's Aldo Rik played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelino Loramendi in the 21st minute of play. Aldo Rik came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Instituto Plate's Angelino Loramendi. But to his dismay, Angelino Loramendi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. If Emanuel Itzaina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angelino Loramendi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aldo Rik having to make a save. When Christian Ixaka came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Instituto Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christian Ixaka couldn't finish the play. Aldo Rik stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Angelino Loramendi's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelino Loramendi in the 43rd minute of play forced River Plate's goalkeeper Aldo Rik to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 53rd match minute, Instituto Plate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pablo Argi to maneuver through the defense. In the 59th minute, Emanuel Itzaina made a precise shot to the right of Cristobal Gaufred. Instituto Plate's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Cristobal Gaufred took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arsenio Cordarrol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th minute, Tomas Hori hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Emanuel Itzaina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Angelino Loramendi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
