San Telmo's Dante Madaleno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Aguilera in the 26th minute of play. Raimundo Eufemio hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Dante Madaleno showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antonio Aguilera, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antonio Aguilera in the 40th minute of play forced San Telmo's goalkeeper Dante Madaleno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Antonio Aguilera made a kick off. Raimundo Eufemio struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Arturo Valery didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San Telmo. Gaudencio Inautzi kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Antonio Aguilera received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. In the 66th minute Raimundo Eufemio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arturo Valery saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arturo Valery was a little too slow when Raimundo Eufemio got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 70th minute. The score was now 0-2. Antonio Aguilera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Madaleno having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hector Orlanda during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hector Orlanda hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Raimundo Eufemio in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arturo Valery saved Club Atletico River Plate from getting behind. When Hector Orlanda came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Club Atletico River Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hector Orlanda couldn't finish the play. In the 94th minute of the match Mario Remicio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dante Madaleno showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. San Telmo were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Club Atletico River Plate's much stronger midfield.
