River Plate's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Defensores de Belgrano the free kick. A collision led to River Plate getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Froilan Ongile hit a great ball. Danilo Lope fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erasmo Iliana having to interfere. When Danilo Lope came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Defensores de Belgrano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danilo Lope couldn't finish the play. In the 8th play minute Danilo Lope came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Erasmo Iliana. 1-0. Erasmo Iliana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albino Rioja in the 11th minute of play. In the 12th minute, Defensores de Belgrano's Vicente Aguirre dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Erasmo Iliana was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Vicente Aguirre showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 16 minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Albino Rioja managed to get in a good position for a shot. Defensores de Belgrano's supporters rose to their feet, but Albino Rioja was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erasmo Iliana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Desiderio Escobar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eulalio Gartzea, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. With an all-out effort, Defensores de Belgrano's Erasmo Iliana threw himself towards the right post 23 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Albino Rioja, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eulalio Gartzea during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 27 played minutes River Plate got a freekick which was hit by Eulalio Gartzea. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind River Plate's goalkeeper Erasmo Iliana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Danilo Lope recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Danilo Lope received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Erasmo Iliana came out and tried to block the shot, but Danilo Lope slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 32nd minute. If Danilo Lope had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 41 minutes into the match, Defensores de Belgrano's goal looked a bit too open when Gaston Iban came free, but Desiderio Escobar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Defensores de Belgrano getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Rogelio Ceandro hit a great ball. Erasmo Iliana was out of position in the 46 minute of play, and Zeledon Chuan capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Zeledon Chuan really showed his touch with that goal: 5-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Danilo Lope stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Froilan Ongile took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Desiderio Escobar. Desiderio Escobar dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-1. Defensores de Belgrano's Cosme Seguinus suffered a sore thigh after 62 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Froilan Ongile was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 62 minutes had been played. Defensores de Belgrano's Genaro Crispo was substituted for Cosme Seguinus. In the 66th minute, Albino Rioja got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Danilo Lope managed to get in a good position for a shot. Defensores de Belgrano's supporters rose to their feet, but Danilo Lope was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. If Justo Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Erasmo Iliana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danilo Lope in the 97th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Defensores de Belgrano players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
