Spectators: 7288 (Terracing: 5468, Seating: 1676, VIP seats: 144) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Norberto Luzea took the kick off in the first half of the match. In the 6th minute Carlos Cruz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robert Lidberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Severino Bento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Smitten FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Severino Bento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Angelino Bartoli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 10 played minutes Newells FC got a freekick which was hit by Conrado Enekoitz. Raul Gonzalez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelino Bartoli having to interfere. Norberto Luzea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Angelino Bartoli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 22nd minute, Smitten FC's Norberto Luzea ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Angelino Bartoli. Angelino Bartoli yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Jeremias Umea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 28th minute, Raul Gonzalez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Angelino Bartoli didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 34th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. After having played for 39 minutes, Raul Gonzalez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Smitten FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raul Gonzalez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Newells FC's goal looked a bit too open when Norberto Luzea came free, but Angelino Bartoli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jeremias Umea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelino Bartoli having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Humberto Atarratze to make the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Newells FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Cruz to maneuver through the defense. If Romulo Loiola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Smitten FC's Norberto Luzea got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee felt a red card was in order, 68 minutes into the game, when Raul Gonzalez put in a rough tackle. The goalkeeper, Robert Lidberg, was totally fooled by Newells FC's Eloy Benvide, who 70 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Romulo Loiola struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Angelino Bartoli didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Smitten FC. When Jeremias Umea fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Smitten FC's protests and gave Jeremias Umea a yellow card for diving instead. After 75 played minutes Smitten FC got a freekick which was hit by Jeremias Umea. If Romulo Loiola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Norberto Luzea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Severino Bento blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Angelino Bartoli having to make a save. Romulo Loiola sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 97 played minutes Smitten FC got a freekick which was hit by Bartolo Thomas. Newells FC's Eloy Benvide shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 98th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Robert Lidberg but with some difficulty. There was no doubt that Smitten FC were the better team. Smitten FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
