Teofilo Natal kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Douglas Haig's zone, Marcelino Clis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baldomero Indar came out of the goal and Marcelino Clis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Herminio Refugio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Villa Alonso SR's zone, Celso Donostia stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Americo Gutierrez came out of the goal and Celso Donostia tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Marcelino Clis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Celso Donostia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eriberto Ondino stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Celso Donostia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Americo Gutierrez having to interfere. With a little luck, Douglas Haig's Baldomero Indar got control of the ball when Marcelino Clis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcelino Clis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Baldomero Indar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Villa Alonso SR's goal looked a bit too open when Herminio Refugio came free, but Americo Gutierrez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Villa Alonso SR's Marcelino Clis got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 69 minutes into the game, Herminio Refugio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Douglas Haig's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Villa Alonso SR the free kick. Marcelino Clis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Baldomero Indar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Marcelino Clis came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Villa Alonso SR fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelino Clis couldn't finish the play. In the 88th match minute, Douglas Haig was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rosendo Emesto to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th minute Eriberto Ondino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baldomero Indar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcelino Clis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Villa Alonso SR's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eriberto Ondino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Villa Alonso SR's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
