Spectators: 7234 (Terracing: 5427, Seating: 1664, VIP seats: 143) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Albino Raebert made the kick off which started today's match. Pablo Maureo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesar Soter in the 3rd minute of play. If Victorio Ubarna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Athena fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 6th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 8 minutes, Espirillos AFC's Amancio Orlandus got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Baldomero Elizardo. Eulalio Gonza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgardo Jordy in the 15th minute of play forced Espirillos AFC's goalkeeper Pablo Maureo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pablo Maureo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eulalio Gonza in the 16th minute of the match. Espirillos AFC's Pablo Maureo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eulalio Gonza in the 22nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Espirillos AFC's zone, Eulalio Gonza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pablo Maureo came out of the goal and Eulalio Gonza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pablo Maureo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eulalio Gonza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edgardo Jordy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Pablo Maureo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pablo Maureo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eulalio Gonza, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Cesar Soter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Eulalio Gonza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Pablo Maureo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 35 minutes of play, Athena's Eulalio Gonza made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pablo Maureo was left in no man's land by his defense there! 38 minutes into the match, Espirillos AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Eulalio Gonza came free, but Pablo Maureo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Athena's Eulalio Gonza in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Espirillos AFC's goalie prevented a goal. After a rather tough play, Athena's Cesar Soter got a free kick in the 47th minute. 48 minutes into the match, Espirillos AFC's Amancio Orlandus broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Eulalio Gonza made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Espirillos AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Cesar Soter came free, but Pablo Maureo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eulalio Gonza in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pablo Maureo saved Espirillos AFC from getting behind. 61 minutes into the match, Athena's goal looked a bit too open when Victorio Ubarna came free, but Baldomero Elizardo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Isidro Sal during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Espirillos AFC's Isidro Sal got a free kick in the 63rd minute. When Eulalio Gonza came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Athena fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eulalio Gonza couldn't finish the play. Eulalio Gonza struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Pablo Maureo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Athena. Eulalio Gonza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 76 minutes into the match, Cesar Fraco sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Pablo Maureo threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Cesar Fraco this time. Pablo Maureo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eulalio Gonza in the 78th minute of the match. Cesar Soter struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Pablo Maureo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Athena. After 80 minutes, Albino Raebert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Espirillos AFC and the Athena players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Espirillos AFC getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Albino Raebert hit a great ball. Pablo Maureo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eulalio Gonza went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Eulalio Gonza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eulalio Gonza got free with Pablo Maureo in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eulalio Gonzas short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Pablo Maureo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Edgardo Jordy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Athena's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
