After a rather tough play, Athena's Edelmiro Guter got a free kick in the 35th minute. Merlo's Raimundo Bastian got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gualterio Serafo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Santos in the 47th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Emanuel Santos made a kick off. Merlo's Gualterio Serafo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgardo Jordy in the 52nd minute of play. During the 53rd minute of the match Emanuel Santos completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Emanuel Santos a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 54th minute, Emanuel Santos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 58 minutes into the match, Raimundo Bastian notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Athena's Baldomero Elizardo. Baldomero Elizardo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Raimundo Bastian could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Baldomero Elizardo made a huge save. After 71 played minutes Santo Pelagius rounded Athena's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Raimundo Bastian got free with Baldomero Elizardo in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edgardo Jordy during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Edgardo Jordy hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. 79 minutes into the game, Santo Pelagius was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Merlo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Athena the free kick. Santo Pelagius kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Baldomero Elizardo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Santo Pelagius showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-3 in the 81 minute of play. Cesar Soter hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Baldomero Elizardo made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Raimundo Bastian sent off a good shot on target. In the 96th minute, Cesar Fraco left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Athena fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Athena had won after a very even match.
