Gilbert Björkkvist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felipe Txema in the 8th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Florencio Belo during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 15 played minutes Merced FC got a freekick which was hit by Florencio Belo. Florencio Belo took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Osvaldo Godoy. Osvaldo Godoy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. In the 21st minute of the match Abelardo Piarres sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Osvaldo Godoy skillfully saved the ball. La Banda del Ate's Osvaldo Godoy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Florencio Belo in the 22nd minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, La Banda del Ate's Felipe Txema sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gilbert Björkkvist narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gilbert Björkkvist stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ramon Gervaso's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. In the 38th minute, Florencio Belo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Osvaldo Godoy was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 44th minute Florencio Belo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvaldo Godoy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The La Banda del Ate players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Merced FC were winning 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Florencio Belo to strike the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, La Banda del Ate's goal looked a bit too open when Florencio Belo came free, but Osvaldo Godoy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Placido Rio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Placido Rio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Placido Rio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 67 minutes into the match, Merced FC's Placido Rio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Osvaldo Godoy narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Placido Rio got free with Osvaldo Godoy in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Florencio Belo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Placido Rio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Osvaldo Godoy having to interfere. Felipe Txema's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gilbert Björkkvist read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. 79 minutes into the game, Elvio Eli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. La Banda del Ate's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Merced FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, La Banda del Ate's Elvio Eli got a free kick in the 79th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Ramon Gervaso managed to get in a good position for a shot. La Banda del Ate's supporters rose to their feet, but Ramon Gervaso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilbert Björkkvist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ramon Gervaso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilbert Björkkvist having to interfere. Leopoldo Patxi's late challenge caught a La Banda del Ate's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Leopoldo Patxi helped the player get up and apologised. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Merced FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
