Spectators: 7040 (Terracing: 5381, Seating: 1649, VIP seats: 10) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Erasmo Colon started the match with the kick off. 9 minutes into the match, German Lopez had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Baltasar Bernaldo. Instituto's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that German Lopez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After having played for 12 minutes, German Lopez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Habana Comunicaciones Clú's supporters crossed their fingers, but German Lopez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Erasmo Colon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Habana Comunicaciones Clú's zone, Antonio Quintyn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Braulio Pitin came out of the goal and Antonio Quintyn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 24th match minute, Habana Comunicaciones Clú was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natalio Herensuge to maneuver through the defense. Braulio Pitin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Erasmo Colon's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. When Erasmo Colon came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Instituto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erasmo Colon couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo Colon in the 32nd minute of play forced Habana Comunicaciones Clú's goalkeeper Braulio Pitin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Instituto booed when Habana Comunicaciones Clú was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bonifacio Ado didn't get a good kick on the ball. German Lopez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltasar Bernaldo having to interfere. Antonio Quintyn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Braulio Pitin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Paulo Garaile made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by German Lopez in the 53rd minute of play forced Instituto's goalkeeper Baltasar Bernaldo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Baltasar Bernaldo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Garaile in the 55th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Paulo Garaile in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Baltasar Bernaldo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 64 minutes into the match, Instituto's goal looked a bit too open when German Lopez came free, but Baltasar Bernaldo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Baltasar Bernaldo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from German Lopez in the 69th minute of play. 71 minutes into the game, German Lopez cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Baltasar Bernaldo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Antonio Quintyn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Instituto's supporters rose to their feet, but Antonio Quintyn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Braulio Pitin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Erasmo Colon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Erasmo Colon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Braulio Pitin having to make a save. After having played for 92 minutes, Antonio Quintyn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Instituto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antonio Quintyn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Erasmo Colon kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Braulio Pitin. That made the score 2-1 in the 94 minute of play. Habana Comunicaciones Clú were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Instituto for a fine match.
