A very good chance. Oscar Dei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucio Valentine in the 19th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Guaberto Gizon managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Rayo's supporters rose to their feet, but Guaberto Gizon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oscar Dei breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of talleres re booed when El Rayo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gualterio Ciano didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Pablo Nel in the 26th minute really tested Eloy Chepe's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Guaberto Gizon hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Urbano Firman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Saul Garikoitz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 39 minutes into the match, Lucio Valentine notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of talleres re's Oscar Dei. When Urbano Firman came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the talleres re fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Urbano Firman couldn't finish the play. El Rayo's Guaberto Gizon managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Efrain Vergaray in the 62 minute of the game. After 65 minutes of play El Rayo's Gualterio Ciano was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 66 played minutes El Rayo got a freekick which was hit by Gualterio Ciano. Eloy Chepe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Urbano Firman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. talleres re's Eustacio Izotz got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, El Rayo's Lucio Valentine got a free kick in the 70th minute. talleres re's Pablo Nel couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 71st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for El Rayo. In the 79th minute, Guaberto Gizon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A sloppy throw-in by Feliberto Heriberto in the 82nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by El Rayo's Lucio Valentine. Esteban Gurutz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in El Rayo's zone, Esteban Gurutz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eloy Chepe came out of the goal and Esteban Gurutz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The talleres re manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing El Rayo to win.
