In the 18th minute, one of knaya:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for knaya. Nemesio Mede fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvio Godoy having to interfere. Silvio Godoy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ermegildo Esquipula's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Teo Abreu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marciano Aztore having to interfere. Francisco Heriberto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 39th minute, Elpidio Cordareo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nemesio Mede sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nemesio Mede had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvio Godoy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ermegildo Esquipula, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ermegildo Esquipula stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, knaya's Silvio Godoy got control of the ball when Nemesio Mede tried to sneak it across the goal line. Silvio Godoy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ermegildo Esquipula, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Nemesio Mede could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Silvio Godoy made a huge save. In the 86th minute Teo Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marciano Aztore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 88 minutes into the match, knaya's goalkeeper Silvio Godoy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nemesio Mede. Newells Old Boys's Marciano Aztore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teo Abreu in the 90th minute of play. Ermegildo Esquipula fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvio Godoy having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermegildo Esquipula in the 94th minute of play forced knaya's goalkeeper Silvio Godoy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match was over Newells Old Boys could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than knaya throughout the match.
