After 3 minutes of play, Club Atletico Belgrano's Saverio Esdras made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. The supporters of Club Atletico Belgrano booed when Buenos Aires United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Cordeara didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 13 minutes, Modesto Florian managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Atletico Belgrano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Modesto Florian was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 14th minute Saverio Esdras shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Roano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Apolo Gartxot charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Apolo Gartxot the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 15th match minute, Buenos Aires United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Apolo Gartxot to maneuver through the defense. Juan Roano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Modesto Florian, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Juan Roano came out of the goal in the 19th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atletico Belgrano's Modesto Florian. But to his dismay, Modesto Florian quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Modesto Florian recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Saverio Esdras received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Juan Roano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 29 minutes, Osvaldo Abechuco successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 33rd minute, Casimiro Feo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hugo Gerazan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Osvaldo Abechuco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hugo Gerazan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Osvaldo Abechuco made a huge save. Osvaldo Abechuco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casimiro Feo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Club Atletico Belgrano were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Modesto Florian to make the kick off. Osvaldo Abechuco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Gerazan in the 58th minute of play. 62 minutes into the game, Buenos Aires United's Casimiro Feo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Osvaldo Abechuco made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. A collision led to Buenos Aires United getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Hugo Gerazan hit a great ball. Hugo Gerazan took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Osvaldo Abechuco. Osvaldo Abechuco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. In the 81st minute Casimiro Feo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvaldo Abechuco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Club Atletico Belgrano's zone, Hugo Gerazan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Osvaldo Abechuco came out of the goal and Hugo Gerazan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Casimiro Feo came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Buenos Aires United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Casimiro Feo couldn't finish the play. Osvaldo Abechuco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Gerazan in the 85th minute of the match. In the 86th minute Casimiro Feo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvaldo Abechuco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
