Fidel Gonzales showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Basilio Papo in the 9th minute of the match. Celestino Viviano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maximino Curcio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Primitivo Pedroso took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 17th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Maximino Curcio. Marull's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Esteve Bastiaro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Maximino Curcio. That made the score 1-0 in the 20 minute of play. 29 minutes into the match, Omar Lertxun had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fidel Gonzales. FC Schalke 04's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Omar Lertxun was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Esteve Bastiaro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Esteve Bastiaro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience was convinced that Celestino Viviano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Maximino Curcio was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. Celestino Viviano scored 2-1 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Maximino Curcio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. FC Schalke 04's Fidel Gonzales proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save FC Schalke 04 from getting a goal against them. Celestino Viviano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Omar Lertxun might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fidel Gonzales. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Omar Lertxun ran back to his position shaking his head. With an all-out effort, Marull's Fidel Gonzales threw himself towards the right post 80 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Basilio Papo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 86th match minute, Marull was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esteve Osoitz to maneuver through the defense. 91 minutes into the game, FC Schalke 04's Celestino Viviano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Maximino Curcio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The FC Schalke 04 fans cheered their team off the field, for while Marull had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
