The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The crowd rose to their feet as Quilmes's Leonides Lartaun slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Abelardo Astrada. That made the score 1-0 after 4 minutes of play. Simon Cedro struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Humberto Emmanuel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Desamparado de San Juan. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Simon Cedro in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Humberto Emmanuel saved Quilmes from getting behind. Benigno Corderro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Simon Cedro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Emmanuel having to interfere. Abelardo Astrada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonides Lartaun, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Esteve Leizarraga was extremely unlucky when he, in the 26th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abel Lohitzun couldn't finish the play. If Simon Cedro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Humberto Emmanuel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simon Cedro in the 32nd minute of the match. Benigno Corderro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Emmanuel having to interfere. After 35 minutes of play, Desamparado de San Juan's Simon Cedro made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Humberto Emmanuel was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 41st minute, Benigno Corderro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Humberto Emmanuel was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Simon Cedro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Humberto Emmanuel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Simon Cedro to strike the kick off in the second half. Simon Cedro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Emmanuel having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benigno Corderro in the 53rd minute of play forced Quilmes's goalkeeper Humberto Emmanuel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Simon Cedro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abelardo Astrada showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Natalio Aimar in the 56th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Desamparado de San Juan's goal looked a bit too open when Esteve Leizarraga came free, but Abelardo Astrada reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leonides Lartaun recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Abelardo Astrada didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Natalio Aimar went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Abel Lohitzun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Emmanuel having to interfere. After having played for 68 minutes, Simon Cedro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Desamparado de San Juan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Simon Cedro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Abelardo Astrada showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonides Lartaun in the 75th minute of the match. Benigno Corderro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Emmanuel having to interfere. In the 81st minute, Simon Cedro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Quilmes getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Leonides Lartaun hit a great ball. In the 90th minute, Natalio Aimar left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Quilmes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Abelardo Astrada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leonides Lartaun in the 94th minute of play. Many of Desamparado de San Juan's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Desamparado de San Juan may have spent more time on the ball, but Quilmes were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
