Ivan Gartzea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ildefonso Ranolfo in the 7th minute of the match. When Victoriano Valentine came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Portugalete fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Victoriano Valentine couldn't finish the play. Ildefonso Ranolfo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Portugalete's Ildefonso Ranolfo got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 20 minutes into the game, Portugalete's Ildefonso Ranolfo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ivan Gartzea made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Augusto Silban might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cleto Ramos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Augusto Silban ran back to his position shaking his head. Augusto Silban fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cleto Ramos having to interfere. Gaspar Millan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Cleto Ramos made a huge save. Ildefonso Ranolfo struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Ivan Gartzea didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portugalete. 47 minutes into the match, Portugalete's Ceferino Markel sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivan Gartzea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Tapones De Punta players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Portugalete were winning 0-2.

After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Augusto Silban managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tapones De Punta's supporters rose to their feet, but Augusto Silban was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cleto Ramos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Augusto Silban fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cleto Ramos having to interfere. The supporters of Tapones De Punta booed when Portugalete was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabricio Feliz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfonso Blanco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alfonso Blanco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cleto Ramos having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Portugalete's Generoso Pierres got a free kick in the 64th minute. 66 minutes into the match, Portugalete's goal looked a bit too open when Alfonso Blanco came free, but Cleto Ramos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 71 minutes into the match, Tapones De Punta's goalkeeper Ivan Gartzea had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Victoriano Valentine. In the 76th minute Tapones De Punta were awarded a corner. Romulo Diegotxe went to the cornerflag to take it. Alfonso Blanco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tapones De Punta's Alfonso Blanco got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Augusto Silban's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cleto Ramos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Portugalete's Ceferino Markel got a free kick in the 90th minute. Alfonso Blanco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cleto Ramos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Blanco, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Portugalete walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
