The audience thought a goal was coming when Nunez Iruinea got free with Haroldo Heriberto in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Salto's defense didn't have a chance, in the 3rd minute, when Nunez Iruinea scored to the left of an out of position Haroldo Heriberto, making the score, 1-0. 6 minutes into the game, Nunez Iruinea was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Manchester United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Salto the free kick. After a rather tough play, Manchester United's Nunez Iruinea got a free kick in the 6th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Atilano Baristo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hermengildo Chico. Manchester United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Atilano Baristo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Haroldo Heriberto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Justino Abeijon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hermengildo Chico stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Maximino Sanchez's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. After some careless play in the Manchester United defense, Atilano Baristo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hermengildo Chico. The Manchester United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hermengildo Chico should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximino Sanchez in the 25th minute of play forced Manchester United's goalkeeper Hermengildo Chico to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Salto's Haroldo Heriberto got control of the ball when Nunez Iruinea tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hermengildo Chico showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximino Sanchez, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Damian Reynardo hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. 34 minutes into the game, Cayetano Toli cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Haroldo Heriberto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Maximino Sanchez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 40 minutes into the game, Atilano Baristo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Hermengildo Chico was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpected shot in the 48th minute by Justino Abeijon got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-3 lead.
The wind increased when Justino Abeijon made the kick off in the second half. Maximino Sanchez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermengildo Chico having to interfere. In the 54th match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hipolito Inocente to maneuver through the defense. Manchester United's Hermengildo Chico proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Manchester United from getting a goal against them. Atilano Baristo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 70 minutes into the game, Justino Abeijon cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-3. Haroldo Heriberto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Atilano Baristo in the 73rd minute of play forced Manchester United's goalkeeper Hermengildo Chico to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 75 minutes into the match, Salto's goal looked a bit too open when Damian Reynardo came free, but Haroldo Heriberto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Salto booed when Manchester United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nunez Iruinea didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 93rd minute, Edgardo Mederi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Atilano Baristo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Salto's supporters rose to their feet, but Atilano Baristo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hermengildo Chico breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Haroldo Heriberto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justino Abeijon in the 98th minute of play. When the match was over Salto could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Manchester United throughout the match.
