In the 9th minute Faustino Gamus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelino Nel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, Santo Salvadore had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcelino Nel. Defensores de Belgrano's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Santo Salvadore was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Defensores de Belgrano's Flavio Laffitte got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcelino Nel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Yalapa's Samuel Heli got a free kick in the 44th minute. The Defensores de Belgrano players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Yalapa were winning 0-2.

To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Defensores de Belgrano getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Silvio Bieito hit a great ball. Defensores de Belgrano were furious when Vladimiro Viviano was red carded, 69 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Defensores de Belgrano fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 69th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Marcelino Nel, was totally fooled by Yalapa's Anacleto Cerilo, who 71 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Marcelino Nel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Faustino Gamus, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Marcelino Nel made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Santo Salvadore sent off a good shot on target. Faustino Gamus struck a weak shot in the 87th minute.
