After 18 minutes, Federico Cristofol mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the UnionTate and the SANTOS F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. 20 minutes into the match, SANTOS F.C.'s Generoso Chuse sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Teodoro Bernaldo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. UnionTate's Teodoro Bernaldo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Generoso Chuse in the 21st minute of play. When Tomas Quiroga came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the UnionTate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Quiroga couldn't finish the play. In the 37th minute, one of UnionTate:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for UnionTate. If Federico Cristofol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, SANTOS F.C.'s Roman Santo got a free kick in the 46th minute. Faustino Joachim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Quiroga, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Quiroga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Quiroga in the 56th minute of play forced SANTOS F.C.'s goalkeeper Faustino Joachim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Federico Cristofol recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Generoso Chuse in the 84th minute of play forced UnionTate's goalkeeper Teodoro Bernaldo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Quiroga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustino Joachim having to interfere. SANTOS F.C.'s Faustino Joachim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save SANTOS F.C. from getting a goal against them. In the 90th minute of the match, Tomas Quiroga tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Faustino Joachim saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Rogelio Urtats kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Tomas Quiroga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Faustino Joachim having to interfere. UnionTate's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
