A collision led to Rio de la Plata getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Edelmiro Teofilio hit a great ball. In the 18th minute, Remigio Tallia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dionisio Cordarrel hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Tiburcio Brion fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Prejun having to interfere. Roman Jaunzuria's late challenge caught a Rio de la Plata's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roman Jaunzuria helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Rio de la Plata booed when Sarmiento AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roman Jaunzuria didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute Dionisio Lorencio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matias Illart saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacobo Prejun made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tiburcio Brion in the 36th minute of play. Eliseo Videl scored 0-1 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jacobo Prejun, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 42nd minute Fabian Chaime shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Prejun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dionisio Lorencio took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Matias Illart. Matias Illart dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 49th minute, Dionisio Lorencio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Remigio Tallia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Rio de la Plata booed when Sarmiento AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Oinatz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jacobo Prejun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eliseo Videl in the 57th minute of the match. In the 57th minute, Eliseo Videl ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jacobo Prejun was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 61st minute, Delmar Firme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jacobo Prejun made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Tiburcio Brion sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Sarmiento AFC's Roman Jaunzuria got a free kick in the 73rd minute. In the 76th minute, Tiburcio Brion fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jacobo Prejun, passed just outside the right post. Eliseo Videl fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacobo Prejun having to interfere. Eliseo Videl sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rio de la Plata's Matias Illart played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Remigio Tallia in the 89th minute of play. Rio de la Plata's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
