The audience thought a goal was coming when Codruț Iordache got free with Edmond Tardif in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Codruț Iordache might have been able to make a better finish in the 18th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edmond Tardif. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Codruț Iordache ran back to his position shaking his head. Benedicto Evangelista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto Bemabe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st match minute, Deportivo San Onofre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kuncho Chenkov to maneuver through the defense. 22 minutes into the match, Deportivo San Onofre's goal looked a bit too open when Benicio Rutenio came free, but Benedicto Evangelista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benedicto Evangelista made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Deportivo San Onofre's Benedicto Evangelista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benicio Rutenio in the 31st minute of play. When Benicio Rutenio came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Atletico Atlas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benicio Rutenio couldn't finish the play. After having played for 34 minutes, Ivan Fliz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Deportivo San Onofre's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivan Fliz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benicio Rutenio in the 38th minute of play forced Deportivo San Onofre's goalkeeper Benedicto Evangelista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benedicto Evangelista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benicio Rutenio in the 42nd minute of play. If Codruț Iordache had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Codruț Iordache came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Deportivo San Onofre fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Codruț Iordache couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Benicio Rutenio to make the kick off. Benedicto Evangelista made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Fausto Bemabe sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Atletico Atlas booed when Deportivo San Onofre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Fliz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 55 played minutes Deportivo San Onofre got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Fliz. Edmond Tardif showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Codruț Iordache, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. 61 minutes into the match, Deportivo San Onofre's goal looked a bit too open when Benicio Rutenio came free, but Benedicto Evangelista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Atletico Atlas's Generoso Egoitz ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benedicto Evangelista. Benedicto Evangelista yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Benedicto Evangelista showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benicio Rutenio, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. Benedicto Evangelista was a little too slow when Fausto Bemabe got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 68th minute. The score was now 0-3. In the 73rd minute of the match Bonifacio Cesario sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benedicto Evangelista skillfully saved the ball. Deportivo San Onofre's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atletico Atlas the free kick. In the 84th minute, Codruț Iordache hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Codruț Iordache received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Edmond Tardif tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 88 played minutes Atletico Atlas got a freekick which was hit by Generoso Egoitz. Codruț Iordache sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
