The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ermegildo Ramirez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paolo Ekain having to interfere. Ermegildo Ramirez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paolo Ekain having to make a save. Efrain Bittor took the ball and in the 16 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Prudencio Abaurre. Prudencio Abaurre dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Prudencio Abaurre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Efrain Bittor in the 20th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donato Blanco in the 21st minute of play forced Caroya FC's goalkeeper Prudencio Abaurre to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paolo Ekain made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ermegildo Ramirez in the 22nd minute. Ermegildo Ramirez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paolo Ekain having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermegildo Ramirez in the 28th minute of play forced Deportivo Lona FC's goalkeeper Paolo Ekain to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Deportivo Lona FC's zone, Ermegildo Ramirez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paolo Ekain came out of the goal and Ermegildo Ramirez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Prudencio Abaurre made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donato Blanco in the 34th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Caroya FC's zone, Efrain Bittor stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Prudencio Abaurre came out of the goal and Efrain Bittor tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Efrain Bittor in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Prudencio Abaurre prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Romeo Transito's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paolo Ekain read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. After 41 minutes, Ermegildo Ramirez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caroya FC and the Deportivo Lona FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Deportivo Lona FC booed when Caroya FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ermegildo Ramirez didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Donato Blanco came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Deportivo Lona FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donato Blanco couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Efrain Bittor to make the kick off. Donato Blanco struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Prudencio Abaurre didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deportivo Lona FC. If Ermegildo Ramirez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Deportivo Lona FC defense, Romeo Transito kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paolo Ekain. The Deportivo Lona FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paolo Ekain should have stopped the shot. Donato Blanco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Prudencio Abaurre showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Efrain Bittor, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Ermegildo Ramirez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paolo Ekain read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Matias Lekubegi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caroya FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Matias Lekubegi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paolo Ekain breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Romeo Transito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Paolo Ekain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Efrain Bittor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Prudencio Abaurre having to interfere. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
