Santo Maju ran back to his position shaking his head. If Arnoldo Rocendo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 12 minutes in the game, Juan Barto fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Benedicto Cucao having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Pastor Lehoi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benedicto Cucao was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. In the 37th minute, Pastor Lehoi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Benedicto Cucao made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fernan Blasco in the 41st minute. After some careless play in the Libertad defense, Fernan Blasco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benedicto Cucao. The Libertad fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benedicto Cucao should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Pastor Lehoi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benedicto Cucao. That made the score 3-0 in the 47 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zeledon Bonifaco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fernan Blasco during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Benítez AFC's Fernan Blasco got a free kick in the 54th minute. When Pastor Lehoi came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Benítez AFC fans jumped to their feet. Aldo Matai tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pastor Lehoi took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benedicto Cucao. Benedicto Cucao dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. After having played for 92 minutes, Juan Barto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Benítez AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Juan Barto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There was no doubt that Benítez AFC were the better team. Benítez AFC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
