He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. 44 minutes into the match, Club Atlético River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Christian Esquipula came free, but Bernardo Chuse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 46 minutes, Patricio Abilio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Soutomayor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Abilio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aquilino Sandalio hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

Bernardo Chuse made a fantastic save in the 57th minute, when Christian Esquipula sent off a good shot on target. Bernardo Chuse stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Christian Esquipula's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Christian Esquipula put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Bernardo Chuse. Christian Esquipula blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernardo Chuse having to make a save. In the 81st minute, Christian Esquipula ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bernardo Chuse was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-6. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Atlético River Plate's goalkeeper Bernardo Chuse, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 88 minutes into the match, Patricio Abilio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bernardo Chuse. Club Atlético River Plate's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Patricio Abilio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-7. Bernardo Chuse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Esquipula, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Benjamin Dantae fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardo Chuse having to interfere. When the match was over Soutomayor could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Club Atlético River Plate throughout the match.
