In the 20th minute, Leopoldo Soin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roque Ponce recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of River Gold booed when Hospital Italiano FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ambrosio Luix didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 37th minute Erasmo Basajaun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diego Mendez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 43 minutes into the match, River Gold's goal looked a bit too open when Romeo Indalecio came free, but Isaac Veto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Hospital Italiano FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. River Gold were winning 0-1.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Erasmo Basajaun got free with Diego Mendez in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Diego Mendez was out of position in the 73 minute of play, and Roque Ponce capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Roque Ponce really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. 77 minutes into the match, River Gold's Roque Ponce sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Diego Mendez narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Roque Ponce's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Diego Mendez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play.
