Sanford's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sebastian Arias was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Orlando Fraco blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Melchor Fe having to make a save. When the match had gone on for 43 minutes, Conrado Salbatore took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Melchor Fe to make any attempt to save it.

Orlando Fraco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 54th minute, Cleto Ioritz reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gonzalo Mel. The goal made the score 2-2. 57 minutes into the match, Amancio Iratxo notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Cobo's Melchor Fe. Melchor Fe was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Conrado Salbatore came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Sanford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conrado Salbatore couldn't finish the play. 62 minutes into the match, Ubaldo Lluques had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Melchor Fe. Cobo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ubaldo Lluques was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. Conrado Salbatore succeeded in the game's 66th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 5-2. Melchor Fe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Conrado Salbatore, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Melchor Fe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orlando Fraco in the 78th minute of play. When Conrado Salbatore came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Sanford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conrado Salbatore couldn't finish the play. After having played for 86 minutes, Guido Cisco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sanford's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guido Cisco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Conrado Salbatore in the 88th minute of play forced Cobo's goalkeeper Melchor Fe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Orlando Fraco might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Melchor Fe. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Orlando Fraco ran back to his position shaking his head. There was no doubt that Sanford were the better team. Sanford's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
