Luis Ihazintu might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joel Cebo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luis Ihazintu ran back to his position shaking his head. 37 minutes into the game, Maximiliano Lauaxeta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Instituto Athletic Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Los caseros the free kick. After recieving a nice pass, Los caseros's Ruben Musko tried to score from far away in the 38th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Instituto Athletic Club's Joel Cebo got control of the ball when Romulo Loco tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eulalio Brais during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.

The wind increased when Emilio Mazuste made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Ihazintu in the 52nd minute of play forced Instituto Athletic Club's goalkeeper Joel Cebo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Emilio Mazuste in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joel Cebo saved Instituto Athletic Club from getting behind. Romulo Blasco hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Ruben Musko took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Joel Cebo. Instituto Athletic Club's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Emilio Mazuste had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Instituto Athletic Club defense, Emilio Mazuste kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joel Cebo. The Instituto Athletic Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joel Cebo should have stopped the shot. Luis Ihazintu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Joel Cebo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emilio Mazuste sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
