The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Donato Jaume in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fulgencio Txurio saved Club Atlético River Plate from getting behind. Fulgencio Txurio came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Deseado AFC's Ramiro Romo. But to his dismay, Ramiro Romo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 14th minute Carlos Ramos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jairo Astrada saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Camilo Lander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jairo Astrada having to interfere. Jairo Astrada had great luck who in the 21stth minute grab hold of the ball when Carlos Ramos from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Camilo Lander did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Jairo Astrada 23 minutes into the match. Amado Lander kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Donato Jaume received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Fulgencio Txurio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Samuel Cugat's late challenge caught a Deseado AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Samuel Cugat helped the player get up and apologised. Samuel Cugat kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Segundo Eguntsenti struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Fulgencio Txurio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Deseado AFC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Segundo Eguntsenti in the 33rd minute of play forced Club Atlético River Plate's goalkeeper Fulgencio Txurio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlos Ramos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Camilo Lander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 45 minutes into the game, Francisco Gar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Deseado AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Atlético River Plate the free kick. The supporters of Club Atlético River Plate booed when Deseado AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Gar didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Ramos to make the kick off.
