The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Guillermo Hitzeder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cayetano Rodriguez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ceferino Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guillermo Hitzeder having to interfere. In the 11th minute, Albano Jaume made a precise shot to the right of Aquiles Benitez. Punto Unido FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Punto Unido FC's goalkeeper Aquiles Benitez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 17th minute, Ceferino Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arnaldo Castulo during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 27th match minute, Román FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnaldo Castulo to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 30 minutes, Cayetano Rodriguez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Punto Unido FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cayetano Rodriguez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Ceferino Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Punto Unido FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ceferino Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guillermo Hitzeder breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Román FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Pastor Orixe hit a great ball. When Cayetano Rodriguez came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Punto Unido FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cayetano Rodriguez couldn't finish the play. After 42 played minutes Román FC got a freekick which was hit by Marciano Fero. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arnaldo Castulo made a kick off. Albano Jaume received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Aquiles Benitez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eusebio Bermund was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 61st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Albano Jaume recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Román FC's Aurelio Eron got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Punto Unido FC's Aquiles Benitez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnaldo Castulo in the 75th minute of play. After 75 played minutes Punto Unido FC got a freekick which was hit by Justino Iratzeder. In the 77th minute, Arnaldo Castulo made a precise shot to the right of Aquiles Benitez. Punto Unido FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Ceferino Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Guillermo Hitzeder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnaldo Castulo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aquiles Benitez having to make a save. After 90 minutes, Jonathan Beremundo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Punto Unido FC and the Román FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Punto Unido FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
