The supporters of Gladiadores F.C booed when Deportivo Cristal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filomeno Valerio didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Gabriel Nevada came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Deportivo Cristal FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gabriel Nevada couldn't finish the play. Flavio Frutos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Efrain Efraim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Dario Argi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximiliano Dolfo in the 52nd minute of play. Teodoro Caradaro was shown his second yellow card after 53 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match.
