Patricio Nastasio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cornelio Hug in the 14th minute of play. Florencio Kaiet made an important save on a dangerous shot by Isaias Rameriz in the 22nd minute. In the 24th minute Ignacio Cordara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Florencio Kaiet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isaias Rameriz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arturo Montxo during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Médanos AFC's Paulino Hitzeder got a free kick in the 39th minute. Cornelio Hug received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Patricio Nastasio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Cornelio Hug notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Médanos AFC's Patricio Nastasio. Patricio Nastasio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Independiente were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With a little luck, Médanos AFC's Patricio Nastasio got control of the ball when Jacinto Ostargi tried to sneak it across the goal line. Independiente's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The Independiente supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Independiente would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
