He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Salto reached it. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Mocoretá FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Silvestre Dalmai's late challenge caught a Mocoretá FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diego Dimas came out of the goal and Cristian Gaitan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Mocoretá FC defense, Fernando Valente kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rolando Otsoa. The Mocoretá FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rolando Otsoa should have stopped the shot. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Salto fans cheered their team off the field, for while Mocoretá FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
