The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hector Mouricio during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 7th minute, Arturo Alonso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Niupi Futbol Club's Gustavo Luken got a free kick in the 9th minute. If Santo Perico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 16 played minutes Atlanta got a freekick which was hit by Ermegildo Bernard. In the 20th minute Adolfo Dantel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Norberto Elixio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd match minute, Atlanta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Apolo Irrintzi to maneuver through the defense. Ermegildo Bernard hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Norberto Elixio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santo Perico in the 29th minute of play. Santo Perico recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arturo Alonso might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Samuel Gabirel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arturo Alonso ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Santo Perico in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Norberto Elixio saved Atlanta from getting behind. After some careless play in the Niupi Futbol Club defense, Arturo Alonso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Samuel Gabirel. The Niupi Futbol Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Samuel Gabirel should have stopped the shot. In the 47th minute, Atlanta's Cosme Barea seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Cosme Barea the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Atlanta protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Cosme Barea had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Jimeno Fertus shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Adolfo Dantel to strike the kick off in the second half. Santo Perico sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 56 minutes, Santo Perico managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Niupi Futbol Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Santo Perico was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Americo Oihan in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Samuel Gabirel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Atlanta booed when Niupi Futbol Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaudencio Dimo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Americo Oihan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Gabirel having to interfere. With a little luck, Atlanta's Norberto Elixio got control of the ball when Santo Perico tried to sneak it across the goal line. Santo Perico sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ermegildo Bernard's late challenge caught a Niupi Futbol Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ermegildo Bernard helped the player get up and apologised. In the 88th minute Adolfo Dantel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Norberto Elixio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leonardo Elia made a great header on Niupi Futbol Club's corner, it was just that Atlanta's Norberto Elixio managed to reach the ball for a save. Americo Oihan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Gabirel having to interfere. Norberto Elixio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adolfo Dantel in the 96th minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Atlanta fans cheered their team off the field, for while Niupi Futbol Club had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
