Santos Jon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Juan Rius's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. Lorenzo Lluterio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Santos Jon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. Benicio Havier hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Juan Rius scored 0-1 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Santos Jon, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Artemio Baristo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Victor Leobardo in the 13th minute. If Lorenzo Lluterio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Barrancas FC fans' excitement grew in the 18th match minute when Barrancas FC's Lorenzo Lluterio looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Artemio Baristo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Victor Leobardo in the 23rd minute. Feliciano Quentin was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 27 minutes into the match. In the 26th minute, one of La Romaneta:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for La Romaneta. In the 28th minute there was a penalty for Barrancas FC. Maximiliano Botello stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Santos Jon. 0-3. 31 minutes into the match, La Romaneta's goal looked a bit too open when Lorenzo Lluterio came free, but Santos Jon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Everardo Velasco managed to get in a good position for a shot. La Romaneta's supporters rose to their feet, but Everardo Velasco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Artemio Baristo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Barrancas FC's Pascual Satordi got a free kick in the 44th minute. Ariel Baldovino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Everardo Velasco struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Artemio Baristo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for La Romaneta. After the first half Barrancas FC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Everardo Velasco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Enzo Erlantz tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Artemio Baristo. An unnecessary self made goal, 1-3 in the 52nd minute. In the 56th match minute, La Romaneta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tadeo Merexildo to maneuver through the defense. Santos Jon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lorenzo Lluterio in the 59th minute. Clodoveo Elivareo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Santos Jon firmly grabbed it by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Pirmin in the 65th minute of play forced La Romaneta's goalkeeper Santos Jon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Placido Gaztea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artemio Baristo having to interfere. Santos Jon made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lorenzo Lluterio in the 70th minute. 71 minutes into the match, La Romaneta's goalkeeper Santos Jon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Clodoveo Elivareo. In the 73rd minute, Lorenzo Lluterio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Santos Jon was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. In the 80th minute, Barrancas FC's Clodoveo Elivareo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-5. Santos Jon came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Barrancas FC's Lorenzo Lluterio. But to his dismay, Lorenzo Lluterio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-6. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Barrancas FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
