Santos Jon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnoldo Lleir in the 21st minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Esteban Nazario during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Hawkins getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Esteban Nazario hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Hawkins's zone, Victor Leobardo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnoldo Guerau came out of the goal and Victor Leobardo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 37th minute, Dionisio Sergi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rd match minute, Hawkins was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Isidro Iaki to maneuver through the defense. 44 minutes into the match, La Romaneta's Victor Leobardo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arnoldo Guerau narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 46 played minutes Hawkins got a freekick which was hit by Natalio Christobal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Baltasar Alfonso was the one to do the kick off. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Santos Jon showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Esteban Nazario was shown his second yellow card after 68 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Hawkins's Arnoldo Guerau played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victor Leobardo in the 77th minute of play. Victor Leobardo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victor Leobardo in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnoldo Guerau saved Hawkins from getting behind. La Romaneta's Benicio Havier got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnoldo Lleir fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santos Jon having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, La Romaneta's goal looked a bit too open when Ciro Otsoa came free, but Santos Jon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hernan Admon kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. La Romaneta were awarded a corner in the 98th minute after Hawkins's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Benicio Havier took the corner. Anselmo Oihenarte tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Arnoldo Guerau. An unnecessary self made goal, 1-0 in the 98th minute.
