Santo Lixandro charged in rather forcefully in the 7th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Santo Lixandro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 7th match minute, Los Picachu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Santo Lixandro to maneuver through the defense. In the 10th minute of the match Mercedes got a corner. Los Picachu's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Rolando Herauso ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Rolando Herauso almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Los Picachu's Francisco Iratxo did a great save. Robustiano Mel's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 12thth minute, Francisco Iratxo skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 17 minutes into the match, Los Picachu's goalkeeper Francisco Iratxo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robustiano Mel. The supporters of Mercedes booed when Los Picachu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Severino Rivas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ciro Honrio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Mercedes's zone, Casimiro Esquipula stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eliseo Peli came out of the goal and Casimiro Esquipula tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Casimiro Esquipula in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eliseo Peli prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Robustiano Mel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Iratxo having to interfere. Ciro Honrio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ciro Honrio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Robustiano Mel made a precise shot to the right of Francisco Iratxo. Los Picachu's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ciro Honrio in the 60th minute of play forced Los Picachu's goalkeeper Francisco Iratxo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ciro Honrio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Robustiano Mel in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Francisco Iratxo saved Los Picachu from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elias Eate in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Rolando Herauso took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 73rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Francisco Iratxo. Los Picachu's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 75th minute, Elias Eate fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Eliseo Peli, passed just outside the right post. Eliseo Peli stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Casimiro Esquipula's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elias Eate in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eliseo Peli saved Mercedes from getting behind. Casimiro Esquipula could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Eliseo Peli made a huge save. Mercedes's Eliseo Peli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elias Eate in the 85th minute of play. Elias Eate received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Eliseo Peli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 92 minutes, Casimiro Esquipula managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Picachu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Casimiro Esquipula was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Los Picachu players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Mercedes.
