After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Flavio Phelipe managed to get in a good position for a shot. Millonarios's supporters rose to their feet, but Flavio Phelipe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Casimiro Peruxu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Flavio Phelipe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Flavio Phelipe made a kick off. Casimiro Peruxu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Augusto Froila in the 52nd minute of play. Augusto Froila received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Casimiro Peruxu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Jorge Newbery getting a freekick after 65 minutes play.
