Leonel Oier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Ovidio Acuña tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Christian Lidon managed to get in a good position for a shot. RC Celta de Vigo's supporters rose to their feet, but Christian Lidon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ovidio Acuña breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 31 played minutes RC Celta de Vigo got a freekick which was hit by Leonel Oier. Christian Lidon's late challenge caught a Club Atlético Gatorei's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Christian Lidon helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to RC Celta de Vigo getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Christian Lidon hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Hugo Ondino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético Gatorei's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugo Ondino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Melchor Lizer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 47th minute of the match Ernesto Laurentzi sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ovidio Acuña skillfully saved the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Baldomero Urtsin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Leonel Oier recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Christian Lidon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leonel Oier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ovidio Acuña having to interfere. In the 75th minute, RC Celta de Vigo's Eulalio Monico seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Eulalio Monico the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of RC Celta de Vigo protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Eulalio Monico had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 75 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for RC Celta de Vigo! In the 77th minute there was a penalty for Club Atlético Gatorei. Omar Eufrasio stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Melchor Lizer. 2-0. Christian Lidon's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 89thth minute, Ovidio Acuña skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Tomás Rameriz charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tomás Rameriz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 90 played minutes RC Celta de Vigo got a freekick which was hit by Tomás Rameriz. Melchor Lizer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Ondino, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the RC Celta de Vigo players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Club Atlético Gatorei.
