In the 15th minute Edelmiro Richie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaylord Pika saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sixto Valerio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gaylord Pika read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Edelmiro Richie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 20th minute, Eustaquio Primeiro made a precise shot to the right of Gaylord Pika. Universidad Buenos Aires's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Gaylord Pika made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tobias Guerrero in the 23rd minute of play. When Edelmiro Richie came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Alvear fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edelmiro Richie couldn't finish the play. In the 28th minute Sixto Valerio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaylord Pika saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Melchor Cresencio hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Edelmiro Richie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Universidad Buenos Aires's zone, Edelmiro Richie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gaylord Pika came out of the goal and Edelmiro Richie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Sixto Valerio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alvear's supporters rose to their feet, but Sixto Valerio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gaylord Pika breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 37th minute Tobias Guerrero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaylord Pika saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sixto Valerio in the 40th minute of play forced Universidad Buenos Aires's goalkeeper Gaylord Pika to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 42 minutes, Ciriaco Martinez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Universidad Buenos Aires's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ciriaco Martinez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Melchor Cresencio's late challenge caught a Alvear's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Melchor Cresencio helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Universidad Buenos Aires's Melchor Cresencio got a free kick in the 44th minute. Sixto Valerio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaylord Pika having to interfere. Arnoldo Jordy charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arnoldo Jordy the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfonso Ekain made a kick off. Alvear's Edelmiro Richie got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tobias Guerrero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaylord Pika having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ambrosio Lander during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ambrosio Lander kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. If Tobias Guerrero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelo Ilazki charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcelo Ilazki the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 61st minute, Marcelo Ilazki hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edelmiro Richie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gaylord Pika stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sixto Valerio's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. Tobias Guerrero's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 76thth minute, Gaylord Pika skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Gaylord Pika made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edelmiro Richie in the 85th minute. After 88 played minutes Universidad Buenos Aires got a freekick which was hit by Alfonso Ekain. The long shot by Tadeo Escobar in the 89th minute really tested Gaylord Pika's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Tobias Guerrero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gaylord Pika showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edelmiro Richie, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. After 96 minutes, Victorino Mon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Universidad Buenos Aires and the Alvear players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 96 played minutes Universidad Buenos Aires got a freekick which was hit by Victorino Mon.
