Lázaro Veremundo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulino Oihenarte read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Paulino Oihenarte didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luciano Aguilera went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Lázaro Veremundo was extremely unlucky when he, in the 29th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Leon Quinito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Paulino Oihenarte tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Andres Soter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulino Oihenarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andres Soter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th minute Leandro Micael shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eleuterio Bembe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paulino Oihenarte made an important save on a dangerous shot by Andres Soter in the 46th minute. After the first half Carpintería were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Eleuterio Bembe was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Leandro Micael showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 59 minute of play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luciano Aguilera couldn't finish the play. The excitement rose when Boca Juniors's Lázaro Veremundo after 97 played minutes turned away three defenders near the goal, and after that shot a ball that was too difficult for Carpintería's goalkeeper to hold. Score! 3-4. The Boca Juniors manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Carpintería to win.
