After having played for 43 minutes, Celestino Camerino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corrientes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Celestino Camerino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Celso Etor charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Celso Etor the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 47th match minute, Corrientes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Celso Etor to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The supporters of Corrientes booed when CA River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucio Perfecto didn't get a good kick on the ball. A very good chance. 93 minutes into the match, Corrientes's Celestino Camerino sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ruben Bilbo narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
