In the 22nd play minute Gabriel Batistuta came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Aquiles Soin. 1-0. Gabriel Batistuta did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Aquiles Soin 28 minutes into the match. Evelio Ikatz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dario Venceslao's shot from short distance in the 31st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Javier Demario managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atlético Río Luján's supporters rose to their feet, but Javier Demario was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aquiles Soin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Fassi FC's zone, Gabriel Batistuta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aquiles Soin came out of the goal and Gabriel Batistuta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gabriel Batistuta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Erasmo Torres's late challenge caught a Atlético Río Luján's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erasmo Torres helped the player get up and apologised. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dario Venceslao made a kick off. The supporters of Atlético Río Luján booed when Fassi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mateo Blasco didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 53 minutes, Javier Demario managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Río Luján's supporters crossed their fingers, but Javier Demario was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fassi FC's Aquiles Soin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gabriel Batistuta in the 57th minute of play. Gabriel Batistuta spun around in front of the goal 57 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Fassi FC's goal. Javier Demario recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 66th minute, Mateo Blasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 73 minutes into the match, Fassi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriel Batistuta came free, but Aquiles Soin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Fassi FC's Israel Beltxe got a free kick in the 75th minute. Jerry Hellström's late challenge caught a Fassi FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. After some careless play in the Atlético Río Luján defense, Humberto Sesuldo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Evelio Ikatz. The Atlético Río Luján fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Evelio Ikatz should have stopped the shot. In the 90th minute, Javier Demario got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gabriel Batistuta might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aquiles Soin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gabriel Batistuta ran back to his position shaking his head.
