Spectators: 7332 (Terracing: 5557, Seating: 1700, VIP seats: 75) Atlético Río Luján's Gabriel Batistuta started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Romeo Raulo hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Sportivo Isla Verde's Hector Guillerme got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Nunez Hug managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sportivo Isla Verde's supporters rose to their feet, but Nunez Hug was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Evelio Ikatz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 10 played minutes Atlético Río Luján got a freekick which was hit by Jerry Hellström. If Nunez Hug had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gabriel Batistuta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alonzo Jerardo having to make a save. Javier Demario received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Alonzo Jerardo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 22 minutes, Hugo Silvino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sportivo Isla Verde's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hugo Silvino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gabriel Batistuta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alonzo Jerardo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. A collision led to Atlético Río Luján getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Teo Cordeara hit a great ball. In the 28th minute, Hugo Silvino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nunez Hug fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evelio Ikatz having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gabriel Batistuta in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alonzo Jerardo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alonzo Jerardo came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético Río Luján's Artemio Oihan. But to his dismay, Artemio Oihan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Nunez Hug sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nunez Hug made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Teo Cordeara during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Teo Cordeara hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute Hugo Silvino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evelio Ikatz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Nunez Hug had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Evelio Ikatz came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by Sportivo Isla Verde's Hector Guillerme. But to his dismay, Hector Guillerme quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The supporters of Atlético Río Luján booed when Sportivo Isla Verde was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moises Maldonado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Serafim Sá kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. If Hugo Silvino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gabriel Batistuta might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alonzo Jerardo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gabriel Batistuta ran back to his position shaking his head. If Hugo Silvino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hector Guillerme in the 76th minute of play forced Atlético Río Luján's goalkeeper Evelio Ikatz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nunez Hug sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Sportivo Isla Verde defense, Gabriel Batistuta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alonzo Jerardo. The Sportivo Isla Verde fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alonzo Jerardo should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Sportivo Isla Verde getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Moises Maldonado hit a great ball. Atlético Río Luján's Gabriel Batistuta got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Sportivo Isla Verde lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
