Godfredo Lauro charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Gaston Arano was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ariel Bordat in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gaston Arano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gaston Arano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Baleren, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Erich Wiesenhofer's late challenge caught a San Lorenzo de Haedo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erich Wiesenhofer helped the player get up and apologised. After having played for 45 minutes, Angel Min managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Navarro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angel Min was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 47 minutes into the match, San Lorenzo de Haedo's goal looked a bit too open when Angel Min came free, but Gaspar Geofredo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half San Lorenzo de Haedo were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Angel Min to make the kick off. With a little luck, Navarro's Gaston Arano got control of the ball when Ariel Bordat tried to sneak it across the goal line. Angel Min received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Gaspar Geofredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the San Lorenzo de Haedo defense, Angel Min kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gaspar Geofredo. The San Lorenzo de Haedo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gaspar Geofredo should have stopped the shot. San Lorenzo de Haedo succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Navarro had controlled the match.
