Danilo Hermelando came out of the goal and Melchor Fidensio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Danilo Hermelando made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Poz in the 45th minute of play. Bernardo Poz scored 2-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Danilo Hermelando, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fernando Damario stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Botafogo FR's goalkeeper Danilo Hermelando had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bernardo Poz. Danilo Hermelando was out of position in the 54 minute of play, and Melchor Fidensio capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. It was a penalty for Medellín AFC! The referee gave Botafogo FR a penalty, 68 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Fernando Damario, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Medellín AFC's Martin Gabon. 3-2. Botafogo FR's Danilo Hermelando proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Botafogo FR from getting a goal against them. Martin Gabon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Benedicto Mosen in the 81st minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Eugenio Tiso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Medellín AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eugenio Tiso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Danilo Hermelando breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Medellín AFC's Bernardo Poz got a free kick in the 84th minute. In the 89th minute, Fernando Damario ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Martin Gabon was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. Martin Gabon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fernando Damario went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-2 was the resulting score.
