Spectators: 7313 (Terracing: 5486, Seating: 1682, VIP seats: 145) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ladislao Evangelista started the match with the kick off. Teodosio Lalla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tadeo Mel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Teodosio Lalla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evaristo Aresti in the 6th minute of the match. In the 9th minute, Ladislao Evangelista left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Independiente fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Evaristo Aresti hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ladislao Evangelista in the 20th minute of play forced Libertad's goalkeeper Teodosio Lalla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute, Rigoberto Arano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Teodosio Lalla came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Independiente's Evaristo Aresti. But to his dismay, Evaristo Aresti quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. When Tadeo Mel came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Independiente fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tadeo Mel couldn't finish the play. If Ladislao Evangelista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Teodosio Lalla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ladislao Evangelista in the 35th minute of play. Ladislao Evangelista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Teodosio Lalla tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Tadeo Mel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tadeo Mel in the 41st minute of play forced Libertad's goalkeeper Teodosio Lalla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 51st match minute, Libertad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgilio Restu to maneuver through the defense. 55 minutes into the match, Tadeo Mel dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Teodosio Lalla, 0-4. 59 minutes into the game, Evaristo Aresti recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Teodosio Lalla. Evaristo Aresti showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. Tadeo Mel took the ball and in the 64 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Teodosio Lalla. Teodosio Lalla dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-6. After 67 minutes, Teobaldo Moise mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Libertad and the Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 67th match minute, Libertad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teobaldo Moise to maneuver through the defense. Tadeo Mel's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Teodosio Lalla firmly grabbed it by the left post. Libertad's Teodosio Lalla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ladislao Evangelista in the 70th minute of play. Teobaldo Moise was shown his second yellow card after 72 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Libertad's Teobaldo Moise got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Teodosio Lalla made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Tadeo Mel sent off a good shot on target. After 77 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Libertad! Tadeo Mel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Teodosio Lalla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ladislao Evangelista in the 82nd minute of the match. 84 minutes into the match, Tadeo Mel notched a goal, 0-8, to the right of Libertad's Teodosio Lalla. Teodosio Lalla was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Teodosio Lalla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ladislao Evangelista in the 89th minute of play. Tadeo Mel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Teodosio Lalla made a huge save. Tadeo Mel who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 92ndth minute tested the skills of Teodosio Lalla when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Independiente were awarded a corner in the 93th minute after Libertad's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ariel Itzaina took the corner. Ladislao Evangelista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Independiente played a much better game than Libertad and deserved their victory. The Libertad players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
