Arnoldo Bautista guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. When Venancio Galo fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rey de Copas's protests and gave Venancio Galo a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Inter de Medellin booed when Rey de Copas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Venancio Galo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Inter de Medellin's Ulises Polo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Justino Bernard in the 29th minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Inter de Medellin's goal looked a bit too open when Justino Bernard came free, but Ulises Polo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santiago Txordon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Arnoldo Bautista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play.
