Eude Zago was slow to take the kick. During this time Independiente FC Piñeyro's players had a chance to rest. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lucio Gonsalve in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bohannon Dunne saved Estudiantes LP from getting behind. In the 64th minute of the match Miguel Tristan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mateusz Soliwoda skillfully saved the ball.
